Background Tomato spotted wilt tospovirus (TSWV) is a member of the viruses Tospovirusin, belonging to the family of Bunyviridae. This virus infects over 650 plant species in temperate/tropical regions, causing reduced vegetative growth and plant death. Crops such as tomatoes, watermelon, zucchinis, and peanuts are affected by this virus.
