Protein transferPVDF membraneFrequently used membrane for protein transfer with mechanism of protein binding being hydrophobic interactions. It is robust membrane, which can be air dried (which is fixing and unfolding transferred proteins) and re-wetted and shows a good protein retention, physical strength and chemical compatibility.PVDF membrane with proteins transferred to it, can be stored at RT for up to 6 months. Described here. Nitrocellulose membraneDisplays another mechanism of protein binging, which is through hydrophobic and electrostratic interactions, which can offer an improved result for certain proteins. This membrane type is more fragile compare to PVDF, but can offer better results in some cases. |
