Can aggregated antibody be still used?

Antibody aggregation may happen during:

reconstitution from lyophilized format
prolonged storage

Before any antibody is used in Western blot or another application, the solution should be quickly checked if no aggregates are formed.

The reasons for antibody precipitation in the solution are following:

vigorous vortexing and pippeting

Freeze-thaw cycles
temperature changes
pH near isoelectric point
lack of additives like glycerol or other compounds which prevent aggregation
